Documentation duties arrive before the market does.

From September 2026, environmental claims in the EU must be substantiated with documents. From FY2027, the broad CSRD wave reports. The certificates being issued today will be read by auditors tomorrow — and most of them are held in spreadsheets.

Buyers now ask for the evidence file, not the claim. Certificates without a documented chain get discounted or refused.

Your auditor tests the record, not the intent. Retirement references and custody proof become part of the annual file.

Sept 2026EU green-claims rules take effect — substantiation must be documentary.
